Philip Stanley Gaubatz
MANSFIELD: Philip Stanley Gaubatz, 79, of Mansfield, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his residence. Born August 6, 1934 in Mansfield, he was the son of Michael and Katherine (Schmidt) Gaubatz.
Mr. Gaubatz retired from General Motors after 37 years of service as a journeyman and was a life time member of the Sons of Herman. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, NASCAR, gardening and working in his yard.
He is survived by his son, Gregory A. Gaubatz of Dayton, Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and his constant companion, Chevy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steven Gaubatz; seven brothers, Mike, Carl, Richard, Nick, Jake and Fritz Gaubatz; and two sisters, Betty Jackson and Caroline Rachel.
The family would like to thank OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield conducted by Pastor Kim Mauer. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice.
