Richard C. Eggerton

PERRYSVILLE: Richard C. Eggerton, 87, of Perrysville, died Wednesday afternoon April 9, 2014 in Samaritan Regional Health System after a short illness. Rich was born Nov. 23, 1926 in Pavonia and was the son of the late Alpha Eugene and Dora Mae (Kiner) Eggerton. He was a 1944 Perrysville High School graduate and was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He was discharged in July and married on his birthday of November 23, 1946 to Miss Olga Kershner. Rich was a shipping manager for Mansfield Plumbing Products for 20 years before becoming the operations manager of Lee-Way Motor Freight of Mansfield, retiring in 1983. He attended Perrysville Baptist Church and enjoyed his TV and the challenge of puzzle books.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Olga Eggerton; one son: Rick (Cathy) Eggerton of Perrysville; two daughters: Cheryl (Ray) Bowen of Perrysville and Tami Eggerton of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Tanya (Ben) Bilger, Michele (Mark) Funk, Jeremy Frank (Samantha Leininger), Miranda (Casey) Shofner, Katyana Evans (Kyle Clark), Dwayne Bowen, and Brian (Autumn) Bowen; nine great-grandchildren: Tony (Tera) Battistoni, Tiffany (Andrew) Stocksdale, Devon Smith (Grant Stevinson), Cody Butler (Becca Morris), Bethany Winters, Alexis Bowen, Avery Frank, Grady Shofner, and Christian Evans; three great-great-grandchildren: Hadley Butler, Samara Bowen, and Grayson Stocksdale; and one brother: Larry "Butch" Eggerton of Midvale. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter: Andrea Braen; two brothers: Robert and Gene Eggerton; and two sisters: Donna Weatherbee and Lida Daubert.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, April 14, 2014 in LINDSEY FUNERAL HOME, LOUDONVILLE with Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW and the American Legion. Friends may call on Monday from 10-12 and 1-3 PM in the funeral home.
