Pastor Richard K. Folger

MANSFIELD: Pastor Richard K. Folger, 84, of Mansfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 2, 2014, with his family by his side.

He was born on June 24, 1929 in Cleveland, to Orlando E. and Wanda W. Allender Folger. He was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians and an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Since 1956, Pastor Folger has been serving the Lord at five different churches, 22 of those years in Monticello, KY, where under his ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church, he helped to found the Mountain View Baptist Camp. He pastored the Mansfield Baptist Temple until he retired in 1994. He loved preaching and serving as interim pastor for churches who needed encouragement.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandy (Brian) Rissler, Shari (Eric) Bascom, and Susan (Dr. Steve) Gardilcic all of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, Amber Grate, Brittany Boyce, Adam (Laura) Bowman, Rusty Rissler, Hillary Rissler, Alex Bowman, Avery Bowman, Austin Rissler, and Adrianna Gardilcic; four great-grandchildren, Cole, Carter, Violet, and Layla; one brother, Carl Folger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Pastor Folger was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine, who passed away on April 2, 2014; one son, Randy Folger; his twin brother; and three sisters.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Mansfield Baptist Temple, 752 N. Stewart Road, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the church with Pastor Rob Kurtz and Pastor Kevin Folger officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park with full honors being performed by the Richland Co. Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
