MANSFIELD: Richard E. Lewis, 80, of Mansfield, died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at The Sterling House, Mansfield. Born April 24, 1934 in East Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late T. Elwood and Mae (Edminston) Lewis.

Dick grew up in Midland, PA and attended Baldwin Wallace College. He then enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He spent his enlistment at Parris Island and was a member of the Marine Corps basketball team. It was there that he met his wife, Janet, whom was also in the Marine Corps. Dick and Janet then moved to Mansfield, where they remained until Dick retired from General Motors after 30 years as a stamping foreman. After retirement, Dick and Janet moved to Wilmington, NC where they enjoyed the beach life and sunshine. Being a skilled crafter, Dick made numerous items out of seashells and beach sand.

Dick had a love for gardening and was a member of the Mansfield Garden Club. He also had a great love for football-more specifically, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dick was also a member of the Marine Corps League.

Above all, Dick was a family man. He loved his wife, daughters, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren.
