Robert A. James

ST. PETERSBURG, FL: Robert A. James, age 91, died in St. Petersburg, Florida on November 11, at Bay Pines V.A. Hospital, following a short illness.

Bob James, known as the "Voice of Mansfield" for many years was a former announcer and program director at WMAN Radio. He retired in 1984 and later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a consummate family man and as an avid photographer, he documented many children's milestones and family events through the years. An Ohio State University graduate, Mr. James rarely missed a Buckeye Game, even in Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Alice; and children, David R. James (Michelle), Marsha A. Zinser (Tom), Evelyn R. Grass (Tom), and Barbara M. Johnson. He and Alice were also blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Bob served in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Deloy James, a brother, Douglas James, a grandson, Ivan R. Johnson and son in law, Gene Johnson.

A family service will be held after the first of the year. He left this world as he lived: gently, gracefully and humbly and will be profoundly missed.
