Robert (Bob) Oertle

OPOLIS, KS: Robert (Bob) Oertle passed away July 21, 2013.
Bob was born on a farm in Opolis, KS, January 12, 1928.
At age 15 he and his family moved to Shelby, Ohio. Upon graduation from Shelby Senior High School he went to work at Empire Reeves Steel Corporation in Mansfield, Ohio. Bob was Vice President of the Central AFL-CIO labor body and instructed labor leaders at Ohio State University. During this time he was active in municipal, state and federal politics, including serving as a Shelby city councilperson. Bob retired from the Steel Mill after 30 years and moved to Harrison, Arkansas, where he owned and operated a campground. In 1991 he moved to Dunedin, FL.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Esther (Tommie) and his grandson, Timothy.
He is survived by two sons, Terry of Ohio and Ronald of Arizona; also five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
His warmth and friendliness to all will be missed by his many friends, family members and his close companion Marilyn.
Bob will be interred in Crocker Cemetary at Opolis, Kansas next to his great grandparents.
