GALION: Thomas Kipp, age 65, of Galion, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born June 13, 1947 in Mansfield to the late Paul W. and Mary L. (Lutz) Kipp. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Ontario High School and lived most of his life in the Mansfield and Galion areas. He retired from FedEx, where he worked as a driver, had been a school bus driver for Mansfield City Schools, Richland Newhope and occasionally RCT and had previously worked as a corrections officer with the Richland County Sheriff Office. He was a good conversationalist and could talk to anyone, revealing a bit of his ornery side sometimes. Tom was a tall, gentle man who could always be counted on as the voice of reason. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Galion.
Tom is survived by two daughters, April (Clyde) Clinton and Mary Kipp (Jim Woodke), both of Mansfield; three grandsons, William Kipp, Wes Clinton and Luc Clinton, all of Mansfield; a brother, Phil (Evelyn) Kipp of Mansfield; a niece, Angie Kipp of Mansfield; good friends, Brenda Kraner of Galion, and Stan and Steve Sirosky, both of Lexington; and a number of close family and very good friends.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Avenue West, Ontario, OH 44906. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family of Thomas Kipp. Online guest registry at www.wappner.com
