Archibald DeRemer (Archie) Crofts Obituary
Archibald (Archie) DeRemer Crofts Archie passed away at home on May 12th He was born 6-26-1922 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. In 1930 he moved with his family to California and lived in San Francisco for 35 years. He attended Balboa High School and San Francisco State University. He married Helen Peltier the love of his life. He became a Merchant Marine and served our country in World War II. One of his proudest moments was as a foreman at Kaiser Shipyards where he built a Liberty Ship in a record four days and was presented with a Presidential Award for this accomplishment. Following World War II he was employed by the San Francisco Unified School District where he was a teacher at Edison School, Vice Principal of Glen Park School and then principal of Longfellow School. He moved to San Rafael in 1966 and was a longtime member of the San Rafael Yacht Club, the Elks Club and Marin Rod & Gun Club. After retiring he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Helen, cruising on his boat, and taking trips in his RV. He is survived by his wife Helen, children Jane Smith (Randy), Arthur Crofts (Rhonda), and Carol Eagleson (Kent). Grandchildren Steve and Dave Smith, Chris and Bryan Crofts, Kevin Eagleson and Denelle Muran, Great granddaughters, Maya, Eva, Scarlett, Adrianna and Aline. We will miss you Pop. The family would like to express our appreciation to Eleanor, Isabelle and Karolina for their kindness and wonderful care they gave to Archie.
