Eleanor "Ann" Sumner Obituary
Eleanor "Ann" Sumner Eleanor was native Californian with ties to Los Californianos, a Marin native and former resident of Novato. She was born to Frank and Violet Forrester and died peacefully on July 31st from complications due to lung cancer. Ann was in the first graduating class of Drake High School. She spent 30 years as a beloved and inspirational elementary school teacher in Larkspur and Corte Madera School Districts. Upon retirement, she worked with North Bay Children's Center and pursued a pastime as an avid collector. For many years she frequented flea markets, thrift stores, and garage sales collecting treasures, antiques, lace, and tchotchkes she shared with others through her business, Gleanings and at Summer Cottage in Petaluma. She was "Auntie Ann" to many throughout her life, had a passion for learning, adventure, nature, fuzzy creatures and could see possibility in all things. Ann was a single parent and is survived by her only daughter, Cynthia Lynn Sumner-Tuell, her son-in-law, Randell Tuell, her brother Peter Forrester, four nieces and one nephew. Memorial and Life Celebration: Sunday, August 24th, 3:00 PM at Unitarian Universalist Church, 240 Channing Way, San Rafael, CA 94903.
