George Francis Hasik Died the morning of March 5, 2014 in Elgin, South Carolina. Born Sept. 27, 1942 in Lincoln, NE to the late George Ludwig and Adeline Lillian Hasik, he was the oldest of 10 children. George grew up moving from town to town as his father was an Officer in the Air Force. They settled in Novato, CA, where George graduated from Novato High School in 1960. From there, George went on to attend St. Procopius College in Illinois. After a year in school, George enlisted in the army. He served during the Vietnam War with the Army Security Agency with stints in Okinawa, Taiwan and Germany. It was in Germany where George met his first wife, Athena, the mother of his eldest child, Crista. After serving our country, George went back to school at San Francisco State University where he earned a bachelor's in International Studies. After graduation, George moved to Washington, DC, to work with the Naval Intelligence Office. It was there where he met his wife of 30 years, Linda Dianne White, in 1981, and married her in Old Towne Alexandria, VA in February 1984. He welcomed his first son, Matthew George White, and second daughter, Jennifer Ashley, while living in Alexandria, VA. George and his family moved to Columbia, SC, in 1991. Through the years, George became well known in the community for being an avid supporter of his children's sports endeavors and as a volunteer with Richland School District 2, most notably with the Spring Valley Career Information Center. It was there where he played a central role in the creation of the school's college and career development website that received notable mention in the Southeast region. George will be remembered for his infectious spirit, quirky wit and humor, and his kind and generous heart. George leaves behind his wife, Linda White Hasik; three children, Crista Hasik Romano of West Chester, PA, and Matthew and Jennifer Hasik of Columbia, SC; his seven surviving siblings, Marybeth Compton, Howard Hasik, James Hasik, Joanne Dallara, Ellen Scherba, Cheryl Jayne, and Shawn Hasik, as well as his eight nieces and nephews, all of California, and his two grandchildren, Alexander and Ava Romano of West Chester, PA. George was predeceased by two of his sisters, Terry and Fran Hasik, as well as his in-laws, Henry and Vashti White of Sumter, SC. You may sign the family's guest book at www.
