James William Doeppers Obituary
James William Doeppers 64 years old Mar. 5, 1950-June 9, 2014 Tiburon, California Jim entered into peace after a long courageous struggle. He was born in Indiana March 5th, 1950 to Robert and Nancy Doeppers. He attended Purdue University where he met many lifelong friends, and adopted his name "Dep". In 1973 he made his way to the Bay Area in his hippie van and settled in Marin County, fully immersing himself in the 70's movement. His passion in life was helping people in his non- judgmental way with their struggles with addictions. He managed several sober living homes in Marin, and saved many lives. He was a committed volunteer for the Marin Mammal Center, a passion he passed on to his daughter Haley. He spent much of his time rescuing sea mammals and taking care of them at the center. Jim loved to play golf, spending time with family and friends, and always hoping for that hole in one. His deepest love, and pride, was for his two daughters, Alexis Jayd Williams-McGaugh and Haley Bess Doeppers, for which he was a wonderful, loving father. They shared a truly special bond that will live in their hearts forever. Those who were privileged to know him will remember his kind, giving nature, tender heart, a bright and charming wit, and those big blue eyes. Missing him greatly are his daughters Haley and Alexis, former-spouse Bari Williams, son-in-law Johnny, father Robert Doeppers, his sisters Barbara Maxwell and Sue Doeppers, niece Leanne, and Zach and great nieces Amelia and Matilda. Jim was pre-deceased by his wonderful mother, Nancy Doeppers. A beautiful celebration of Jim's life will be held at Dunphy Park in Sausalito at the Gazebo, July 6th at 4:00 pm. We welcome all friends and family to join us. Memorial contributions for the family can be made to the Jim Doeppers Memorial fund at Bank of the West 201 West Napa Street, Sonoma, Ca 95476 or the Marine Mammal center, Sausalito.
