Jean Deitz Obituary
Jean Deitz Jean Alice Deitz, after 85 years of a happy and beautiful life, died peacefully with members of her family in attendance in her home in Tiburon on December 6, 2013. Jean is survived by her husband, James E. Deitz, her three children, Margaret Champagne, Alice Perez, and James A. Deitz, her sister, Virginia Miller, and eight grandchildren. Jean was born in Bay Minette on April 5, 1928. She moved to Los Angeles CA with her parents and sister when she was 15. Jean graduated from UCLA with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. She worked for Owl Drug in Los Angeles, taught business and shorthand classes at the collegiate level, and was active in business and community organizations in San Francisco and Marin. She authored a number of classroom textbooks in the area of secretarial science and computer applications. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of Heald Colleges of California for 28 years. Jean and her family moved to Tiburon in 1965 and enjoyed 48 years residence in their Tiburon home. Jean's passion was her family. She and her husband celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on August 31. Jean was known by all for her keen intellect, steadfast loyalty, unqualified love, and dedication to individual independence. At Jean's request a private service for family members is being held.
