Lee Hamilton Ross Nov. 13, 1934 - Mar. 2, 2014 Lee was born and raised in southern California, the eldest child of Captain and Mrs. William Watson Lowrey. Upon graduation from UCLA in 1956, she moved to San Francisco and was employed as a social worker at SF General Hospital. In 1961, she married Guyton McKellar Hamilton of Kansas City, with whom she had two daughters, Helen Healy and Emily Elizabeth. In 1967, Lee divorced, and with her two daughters moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, which became her home for the remainder of her life. She married John Peter Ross in 1969, and in 1973 had a son, JP. Lee was a lifetime environmentalist and an advocate for peace and human dignity. She held leadership positions as a volunteer for many organizations, including Planned Parenthood, The Hunger Project, Save The Whales, and Peace Child. She was a founding member of the Ross Commons musical group, which performed at many Marin County community events. In her later years, Lee worked at Marin Montessori School, helping to run the children's outdoor programs. Following the 1987 death of her daughter Emily, Lee increasingly suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and dementia. She is survived by her daughter Healy and son JP.
