Ord Allen Burns (1931-2013) Age 81, of Novato, California passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2013 with his family by his side. A long time Marin County resident, Allen, as his friends called him, was a founder of Pinky's Pizza Parlors one of the first Pizza restaurants on the West Coast and a beloved Northern California institution. The first Pinky's opened in Larkspur, California in 1956 with other locations in San Rafael, Novato, Ignacio, Petaluma, Walnut Creek, and Lake Tahoe. Allen was born on September 23, 1931 to Veryl Montrose Wall Burns and Colonel Francis Henry Burns in Ft. Benning, Georgia. Their only son, he was preceded in death by his sisters Barbara Glenn of Los Gatos, California and Frances Perfect of Fairfax, Virginia. Allen grew up in Georgia, Korea, Seattle and Los Gatos, and served in the United States Navy on the USS General William Mitchell during the Korean War. He married Carol Ann LeVan of Larkspur, California in 1961, and was the proud father of daughter Kimberly Carol Burns of New York, New York, and son Chad Allen Burns and daughter-in-law Mariana Clarice Burns of San Francisco, California. Allen will be remembered by all who knew him as kind, friendly and quick to laugh. He enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, snow skiing in Lake Tahoe, vacationing in Maui, and he loved his many golden retrievers over the years.
