Carol Rae Matson, 69, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Rice Lake, Wis. She was born March 6, 1944, in Rice Lake, a daughter of Raymond and Regina Matson of Barron.

For several years she lived in group homes sponsored by the Cornerstone Ministries Inc. in Cameron in Barron County and North Woods Gable in Rice Lake. She was employed at the Knot Shoppe in Barron for several years. She enjoyed participating in track and field events in the Special Olympics.

She enjoyed singing holiday and country songs.

In addition to her stepmother, Marjorie Ruth Young Matson, of Barron, she is survived by a sister, Frances Anne Jacobs of State College, Pa.; and a brother, Rex Koderl, of Madison; and three nephews, Parker (Carol) Jacobs, of McHenry, Md.; Brian Koderl and Ross Koderl of Madison.

In addition to her father, Raymond Henry Matson, who died on March 21, 2013, and mother, Regina Frances Kiesling Matson, who died March 16, 1950, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Laurie Matson, who died March 8, 1980.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, with a service conducted by the Rev. Mary Anne Conklin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron. Burial will be on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield,
