Haralson, Donald R.

Donald R. Haralson, 80, of Marshfield entered eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior the morning of July 4, 2014 at his home.



Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, town of McMillan, where Donald was a member. The Rev. Doug Westerberg will officiate and Ann Westenberg will be the organist.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 7 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield and from 10:00 am on Tuesday until service time at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at the Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Strobel, Elliott Weiler, Adam Carolfi, Craig Tritz, Josh Livingston, Matt Livingston, Aaron Gripentrog and Derek Fries.

Donald was born May 3, 1934 in Black River Falls, the son of Donald and Lorraine (Sorensen) Haralson. He received his education at Owen High School, WI. While still attending high school he worked summers in Waukesha for the Wisconsin Gas Company. After graduation Donald worked for the Osmos Wood Preserving Co. out east.

Don enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955. After orders for the Philippine Islands he traveled extensively through-out the Middle East. Before leaving for overseas he married his first wife, Darlyne Treankler, who he lost from cancer in 1978. He served 3 years in the service and was discharged in 1958.

He then joined the Marshfield Police Force and served his community well for 33 years until he retired as Chief of Police on January 15th 1991.

While he was still serving on the Force he married his second wife, Karen Weigel. For nineteen years Don and Karen fished big crappie at Millwood State Park, AR. Holcombe Flowage was another area that they enjoyed fishing. Both were members of the Bluebird Restoration Assoc. of Wisconsin.

After retirement, Don enjoyed working part-time for V&H Heavy Trucks. He worked there 15 years until being struck down by cancer.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Karen, his children, Dean Haralson of Winter, Denise (Russ) Weiler and Diane (Mike) Rotar, all of Marshfield, his stepchildren, Larry Weigel of Marshfield, Lori (Jim) Livingston of Medford, Lisa (David) Gebert of Stetsonville. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 3 stepgrandchildren, 16 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and 2 brothers-in-law, Donald Schultz and Dwight Treankler.
