Eleanor E. Drachenberg, 86 of Stratford died at home on Saturday morning, July 26, 2014.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford with Fr. John Roberts officiating. St. Joseph's Resurrection Choir will provide the music for the service. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine .
Visitations will be from 4-7pm Tuesday at the Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home in Stratford and again on Wednesday, at the church from 10am until time of services. There will be a VFW #6325 Auxiliary memorial service at 6pm Tuesday at the funeral home followed by Parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 pm.
Eleanor was born in Marshfield on July 25, 1928 to Edward and Mary (Whelan) Sersch. She was a 1949 graduate of Spencer High School where she played baseball and was a cheerleader.
She was married to Harold Grassl who died unexpectedly on October 29, 1950 then was united in marriage to Jerome P. Drachenberg on October 10, 1953 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford.
She was a homemaker and operated laundromats in Spencer and Stratford with her husband Jerome. She was employed at Joe Loto's Hardware Store in Stratford before working in food services at St. Joseph's Hospital for 36 years. After her retirement, she returned to food services part time for an additional 10 years.
Eleanor was past president of the PCCW and charter member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary 6352 of Stratford. They would take a car rides on every Sunday for the past 40 years.
Eleanor is survived by her husband Jerome, children Daniel (Cathy) Grassl of DePere, Mary Mortvedt of Stevens Point, Pete (Julie) Drachenberg of Marshfield, Jeff Drachenberg of Stratford and Cheryl (Dale) Hauke of Stratford; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David and Richard Grassl and two sisters Ruth Conley and Mary Gehler.
