Sawicky, Harvey A.

Harvey A. Sawicky, age 81, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2013 of natural causes in his sleep and now is rejoicing with his wife, Shirley at the Pearly Gates. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield. Father Eric Berns and the Reverend Blake Sawicky will officiate. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield from 4:00 until 8:00 PM with a prayer service to be held at 7:30 PM. There will also be a time of visitation from 10:30 AM until service time at the Church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield with Military Honors provided by the Marshfield VFW Post #1866.

Harvey was born on February 9, 1932 the son of Joseph and Margaret (Zophi) Sawicky. His father passed away when Harvey was 11 and his mother remarried Clifford Faulks, Sr. He attended Stratford School. Harvey enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in Korea with decorations. He was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Krohn on June 8, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. They were married for 57 years until her recent passing on December 11, 2012.

As a young man, Harvey grew up on a farm in the Stratford area. When he returned from the Korean War, he started a Mink Ranch business. Harvey then moved his family to Alaska, worked in construction as a developer. He continued as a developer/contractor after the Alaskan pipeline. Harvey built many homes in Marshfield and developed five Hotels in Wisconsin. He enjoyed spending time with his family and liked to travel with his loving wife, Shirley.

Harvey is lovingly survived by his children: Debbie (Richard) Ulman, Sid Sawicky, Jay (Debbi) Sawicky, David (Patti) Sawicky, and Jon (Peggy) Sawicky. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Stacy (Bret Cook) Gray, Tyler Ulman, Adam Ulman, Justin Sawicky, the Rev. Blake Sawicky, Laura Sawicky, Sam Sawicky, Molly Sawicky, Benjamin Sawicky, Kari Sawicky, and Megan Sawicky;, as well as, his brother, Raymond (Bernice) Sawicky, Anchorage, AK, Marie Norwood, Marshfield; his two brothers-in-law, Robert Krohn and Jack (Bev) Krohn, both of Marshfield, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Mae, his parents, an infant granddaughter, Hanna Ulman, his brother, Donald and a sister, Eleanor Bauman.
