Heinz was born on November 1, 1925 in Berlin, Germany to Emil and Erna (Bohl) Beyer. In 1929, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He attended school in Marshfield and graduated in 1943 from Marshfield Senior High.

Heinz was employed by his father as a farmer from 1943-1953. He entered the military service and served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 1953 to Dec. 1955. He then worked at Hughes Brothers, which later became Mid-State Truck Service. He stayed at Mid-State as the body shop manager until 1988, at which time he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, berry picking, attending auctions and tinkering in his garage. In his later years, Heinz and Mary traveled each winter to Yuma, Arizona, where he enjoyed walking in the desert and volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity.

On June 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Specht at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; children Carol Beyer of Marshfield, WI; Susan (Leonard) Horban of Phillips, WI; Mary Bunge (fiancé, Michael Lindquist) of Marshfield, WI; David Beyer of Marshfield, WI; and Gerald (Amy) Beyer of Merrill, WI.
