Jerry D. Boson, 80, Marshfield, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Daryn Bahn, Rev. Mark Krueger and Rev. Andrew Wilson officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. The visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time at Christ Lutheran Church.

Jerry was born on August 5, 1933 in Marshfield to Ebert and Orene (Fuller) Boson and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School where he served as student council president and was selected to attend Badger Boys State. He also attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to Marlee Hyllengren in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in one of their favorite cities, San Diego, CA.

Jerry had worked as a general contractor in the construction business and served as president of The Boson Company, Inc. of Marshfield. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, had served as president of the Marshfield School Board, president of Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Wisconsin, was honored as Outstanding Young Man of the Year by the Marshfield Jaycees, was a past member of the Marshfield Rotary Club, was inducted into the Marshfield Tiger Hall of Fame, was Founder and Board member of Tri-County State Bank, and had been an owner and developer of Northway Mall and Marshfield's first Holiday Inn.

Jerry enjoyed bird hunting with his dog Britta, dining out, spending time at their cabin, travel, skiing, reading, especially history, geneology, and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Marshfield Tigers. He loved nice cars, good food and good friends. Because of his Norwegian heritage he and Marlee attended the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Another memorable trip was visiting Normandy, France where Jerry was honored to be a part of the ceremonial flag raising.

He is survived by his wife, Marlee and their children, Scott (Diane) Boson and Kurt (Ann) Boson, all of Marshfield, and Kendra (Bill) Kotonias of Eden Prairie, MN. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex and Tanner Boson, Emma and Nathan Boson, and Sam, Sydney, Sophia and Siri Kotonias. He is further survived by his brothers, Lyman (Shari) Boson and Glen (Pat) Boson, all of Marshfield.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ebert and Orene, twin sisters, Anna Mae and Rosa Lee and a sister-in-law, Sherry Boson.

Memorials may be designated in his name to House of the Dove, the Marshfield Tennis Now fund for the upkeep of the J.D. Boson Tennis Complex or the Associated General Contractors of Wisconsin (AGC) Education Foundation.
