Stewart D. Smith, age 94, of Marshfield passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at House of the Dove, Marshfield. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. Reverend Mike Carlson will officiate. A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.

Stewart was born February 11, 1919 to Edward and Olive (Tessmer) Smith in Marshfield. He was a graduate of Marshfield High School. Stewart and Beverly Blodgett were joined in marriage on October 4, 1938 in Marshfield. Stewart was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II. He worked as a truck driver throughout his life. Starting as a driver for his father's trucking company, Smith Cartage, and later he worked for Swift Corporation and last with Neuendorf Trucking until retirement. Stewart enjoyed bird hunting, gardening roses, garlic and his beloved peach trees. He also enjoyed going fishing, eagles, and trimming his bay window for each season. He was a member of the Eagles, American Legion and the VFW.

Stewart is survived by his sons: Thomas Smith of Fitchburg, Timothy (Sandra) Smith of Marshfield and Richard "Rick" (Joanne) Smith of Marshfield; his grandchildren: Becky Hanson, Pam Ackerman, Aimee Draheim, Riana Carolfi, Jodi Boehmler, Nicole Weiler, Tabetha Allen, Samantha Smith, and Greg Smith; nine great grandchildren, and one brother, Thomas Smith.

Stewart is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beverly, his daughter, Sybil "Muff" Reierson, his brothers, Pat Smith and Bud Smith, his sister, Emma Jean, and one great grandson.
