Wurscher, Terri

Terri Wurscher, 59 of Spencer, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the House of The Dove in Marshfield, WI.

Terri was born in Redwood Falls, MN, on November 3, 1953, and her family moved to the Litchfield area in 1970. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis in 1977. She lived in Minneapolis and St. Louis Park, MN, for over 30 years. Terri was a senior healthcare professional with extensive experience in finance and strong experience in reimbursement, business management, insurance, coding and overall financial operations. She enjoyed traveling, reading, lawn work, and debate. She had a keen wit.

She was recruited to Marshfield Clinic in 2009 and settled in Spencer, hired as Manager of Commercial Work Variance at Marshfield Clinic, accomplished specific financial goals and then in February 2011 was assigned two additional departments (Government Work Variance and Claims Processing). In August of 2011 Terri accepted the position of Department Manager II, Ophthalmology and Optometry, and the Clinic Optical areas.

Prior to relocation, Terri was employed by North Clinic in Robbinsdale, MN, where she managed the business office and the GI department.

Terri also managed the business office of Cardiovascular Consultants, the cardiology group located within North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, a Level I Trauma Center. She established a coding and reimbursement group involving all major practices from the Twin Cities, Duluth, Rochester and St. Cloud. During this same time, she was asked by North Memorial to establish a cardiovascular surgery practice at North Memorial from front to back for newly hired cardiovascular surgeons. Terri accepted the task and thus reported to hospital officials as well as the cardiology group.

Terri managed the business office at Orthopedic Consultants, where she handled accounts receivables and credit balances, visited remote sites, and wrote "Dear Colleague" letters sent to all orthopods in Minnesota. During this time, she also served as the Coding Consultant to the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology, answering physician/staff questions and writing a column for the newsletter. She maintained that role for 10 years.

Terri began her career as a Supervisor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota and was promoted to Manager. She turned chaos into order and gained the respect of physicians and ophthalmology employees, as well as other medical school staff. She presented Medicare teaching physician rules to all departments at the University. Terri set up two separate Grand Rounds sessions for presentations by the Medical Director of Medicare, advised residents and fellows, set up practice for a neuro-ophthalmology fellow, and supervised the volunteers.

She is survived by her sister Kim (Doug) Mortenson of Litchfield, MN and their children, Jason, Brandon and Bridget; her nieces Kristin ( J. Olvera) of Mexico; Jessica (John) Perez of Albuquerque, NM and their children, Courtney, Caity, Nathan, Aaron and Ethan; Melissa Wurscher Smith of Bellevue, NE and her children, Jasmine and Alonna.
