Martin, Tom Ambrose

Thomas "Tom" A. Martin, age 68, of Green Bay, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014. He was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on October 25, 1945 to Ambrose and Anna (Schuster) Martin. On April 7, 1973. Tom married Cheryl "Cherrie" A. (Swensen) at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt, Wisconsin.

Tom served his country for two years in the US Navy and was stationed in Alameda, California which he loved to revisit many times over the years. He was a member of Nativity Church, Sullivan Wallen Post 11 American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Tom managed Distributor's Wholesale for 25 years and enjoyed the friendships he made with his employees and many customers. He loved playing cards, Sheepshead and Cribbage routinely with friends. He was a devoted husband and father and very proud Grandpa who looked forward to visits from his grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Cherrie Martin; his five sons, Jesse Pontzloff, Michael Martin, Eric T. Martin, Cory P. Martin and Brian John "BJ" Martin; as well as his foster sons, John Mullen and Mike Dart. He dearly loved his "daughter" Tina, the mother of Heather and Madison. Tom is further survived by his seven sisters, Rose (Dave) Taylor, Dolores (Lee) Schmidt, Louise (Joe) Bores, Alice (Bob) Younger, Jean ( Chester) Multerer, Rita (Don) Multerer and Bonnie (Guy) Carpenter; two brothers, Ronald (Marla) Martin and David Martin; brothers-in-law, Tom (Rhonda) Swensen, Dennis Taylor and sister-in-law, Dorothy Martin. Surviving also are Tom's grandchildren, Heather Martin, Madison Martin, and Michael T. Martin.

Preceding Tom in death were his parents; Ambrose and Anna Martin; a brother, Don Martin; his sisters, Virginia Taylor and Loretta Martin. He was also preceded in death by aunts, uncles and many cousins.

Visitation will be held at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 4:00 pm until the American Legion service at 7:45 pm with a prayer service to follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. John Harper officiating.

Visitation will continue at Corpus Christi Catholic Church (Bakerville), 10075 Hwy BB in Marshfield on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
