Victor A. Wiesman, 90 of Marshfield, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 under the tender care of Palliative Care at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, April 26th at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Marshfield with Fr. James Logan officiating. Military rites will follow by the VFW Post 6352 of Stratford at the church. Active and honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and a godson. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Rembs Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm Thursday and again on Friday at 9:30am at the church until service time. A Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be at 6:30 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born January 30, 1923 in Edgar, Wisconsin, the son of Frederick and Theresa (Schoenfuss) Wiesman. Victor grew up on the family dairy farm, one of twelve children. He was drafted into the US Navy during World War II, serving in the South China seas from 1945 to 1946. After his honorable discharge, he worked in Milwaukee before starting his milk hauling career, retiring in 1985.
Victor married Rita M. Strigel on November 5, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburndale, WI. They were members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Stratford where they raised their five daughters. They moved to Marshfield in 1986.
He was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards, dancing and listening to polka music, and watching the Brewers. He was proud to have gone on the Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2011.
Victor was a member for over 55 years and was a past commander of the Stratford VFW Post 6352, a member and usher of Sacred Heart Church, and a KC member.
Victor is survived by Rita, his loving wife of 60 years, five daughters, Jeanie Wiesman, Sue Schiferl, both of Marshfield, Cindy (George Brenner) Zvolena, Loyal, Lois (Gary) TeStrake, Marshfield, and Vicki (Matt) Kuehnhold, Auburndale, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one due in September. He is also survived by a sister and two brothers, Eleanor (Lavern) Berg of Menomonee Falls, Jim (Irene) Wiesman, and Joe (Elaine) Wiesman both of Wausau, numerous nieces and nephews.
Victor was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters, Paul, Mark, Ray, Clare and Wilbert Wiesman, Mary Reilly, Josephine Wunsch, Rose Breivogel, and son-in-law, John Zvolena.
The family wishes to thank St. Joseph's Palliative Care, 5 West Rehab, and Golden Living Three Oaks for the care and support given to our husband and father.
