On the eve of October 4, 2013, in Nehalem, OR., George Junior Persing, 84, reunited with his wife, Estella in heaven. He passed away in the presence of his loving daughter & caregiver, Corrie. George, known as 'Duke' to his closest friends, was born and raised in Reno, Pennsylvania where he met his sweetheart, Estella. George was the youngest of four children. George enlisted in the US Air force; stationed at March AFB in Riverside CA. George completed his enlistment and became employed as a custodian with the Riverside School District. After George and Stella retired, they moved to Hemet, CA where they purchased a 'mom & pop grocery store.' Attached to the store was a one door mechanics garage & gas pump. Stella operated the store while George ran the garage. Those were the days!
George absolutely loved the game of golf; played whenever he could. He was an avid supporter & member of the Riverside & Hemet Elks Lodges for 56+ years.
As his health began to fail (his mind was always sharp as a tack), he began living his girls, rotating to Tucson, AZ, Nehalem, OR or Merced, CA .
George is preceded in death by his wife, Stella; Brothers: Elmer Persing, Charles Persing & Don Persing; Parents: George & Mildred Persing
George is survived by his three lovely daughters, Corrie Persing (Scott) of Nehalem, OR; Kimberly Sudduth (David) of Tucson, AZ & Pamela Spiva (Don) of Merced, CA. ; 5 Grandsons- Joshua Spiva, Jacob Spiva, James(Bucky) Spiva, Jordan Spiva & Cody Shields (Maggie); & 9 Great-grandchildren.
