Jesse Saucedo Sr. (1923 - 2014)

Jesse S. Saucedo was born in Merced Falls, California. He attended local schools there. Jesse served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In the Pacific Campaign, Korea and last saw action in Okinawa with the first Marine division. He was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, WW11 Victory Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 bronze stars, Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon and Combat Action Ribbon. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military he served as a reserve captain for the Merced Police Department for many years he also worked for Cross Lumber for many years and retired from its successor BMC West.
Jesse was also a member of The American Legion Post #83 and Club Mercedes, he was a man with a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his children; Marina Blake, Steve, Joseph & Jesse Saucedo Jr., sisters; Gloria, Helen, Esther, Mary & Connie one brother Nicholas, 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cleofas & Clemente Saucedo his wife Barbara Saucedo and brothers; Alex & Cruz Saucedo.
He was a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father & Grandfather.
 A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014 followed by a Funeral Mass starting at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church located at 671 E. Yosemite Ave in Merced followed by military honors.
