John Louis Dambrosio
March 2, 1920 - February 9, 2014
Los Banos, the community of his birth, was home for John Dambrosio for almost all of his 93 years.  John was a graduate of Los Banos High School and worked for Bank of America as an Assistant Vice President for 42 years.  As a Master Sergeant of the 6th Armored Division Headquarters, John served in the U.S. Army in Europe from 1941 to 1945.  He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement.
In 1947, John married Viola, the "girl next door," and, eventually, his wife of 62 years.  This harmonious marriage of two local Italian families was remarkable in that few families can attest to so many years of close-knit relationships among family and lifelong friends.  Their bold decision to adopt two daughters, Annette and Jana, was their proudest accomplishment as their lives were always centered on "the girls."
In fact, John's most proud accomplishment was that of a dedicated husband, father, and Papa.  He loved his work, his gardening, fishing, and his travels, but spending time with and caring for his wife, daughters, and beautiful grandchildren was truly his greatest love.  John' s courage to leave his community and spend the past few years to be close to his daughter was truly commendable.  Always kind and selfless, John listened, guided gently, and gave wholeheartedly of his love.
In 2000, John lost his youngest daughter, Jana Kerwin, to cancer; in 2009, he lost his wife, Viola—again to cancer.  He is survived by daughter Annette Dambrosio and husband Tom Warren, son-in-law Jim Kerwin, and grandchildren Chelsea and Patrick Kerwin, in addition to caring family members and lifelong friends.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 11:00 a.m., at the Los Banos Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, John's family wishes that donations be given to:
