Vicente M. "Chente" Coronado
January 22, 1932 - October 31, 2013
Vicente "Chente", went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2013.  Born in Edinburg, TX. to Nabor M. Coronado, and Victoria M. Coronado, he is preceded by his parents and siblings, Aurora C. Armijo, Paula C. Garza, Enedina C. Garcia, and Ramon Coronado.  Vicente is survived by his children Maria Elena Coronado, Diana C. Mendoza, Delia C. Ferrato, Avelardo V. Coronado, Carmen C. Garcia, Victor E. Coronado, Aurora Coronado, and Alma R. Stowers; twelve Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandson; and his siblings, Victoria Coronado, Nabor Coronado, Sabas Coronado and Inez C. Hernandez; with many extended beloved family.
Vicente attended school in Edinburg, Texas before joining the United States Army serving fours years during the Korean War.  He was awarded the 50th Anniversary Korean War Service Medal of which he was humbled to receive.  After serving his country, Vicente moved to California where he married Rosa M. De La Cruz and had eight children.
He worked for Bright's Nursery, various agricultural jobs, Merced Irrigation District, and Mc Clanes Pacific until he retired.
In his retirement years, Vicente enjoyed tending to his garden of various fruit trees, roses and cacti. He took pleasure in watching the wrestling of WWE, Western classic movies, baseball games, and listening to Johnny Cash and "Norteño" music. He loved God and attended Mass early Sunday mornings faithfully until he became ill.  When he was no longer able to attend church, he kept his faith and read his Bible.
Although Vicente lived in California many years, he held to his Texan heritage, wearing his Western boots and never losing his accent. He used words such as "Ma'am", "Likewise (Ma'am, or Sir)", "By all means",  "Aww-shucks" and of course, the steadfast sign of approval, a 'double thumbs up'!  Daddy, you are greatly missed.
Visitation will be at Ivers & Alcorn, 901 W. Main St. from 3pm to 8 pm on Thursday, November 7th with Rosary at 7pm.  Funeral services will be Friday, November 8th at 12pm, Sacred Heart Church, 562 W. 13th St. Merced, CA. He will be laid to rest at Merced Cemetery District.  Reception will be following at the Apostolic Tabernacle Church Reception Hall, 2745 California, East State Hwy 140, Merced, CA.
