Carlos A. Estrella Obituary
Carlos A. Estrella
Nov. 11, 1931-May 24, 2014
Resident of Santa Clara
Carlos Alves Estrella passed away peacefully in his Santa Clara home, in the company of his loving wife and children on May 24, 2014. He was 82 years old and everyone was surrounded by his bedside until he passed. He was born and raised in New Bedford, MA. While serving in the Navy, he met his beautiful wife Cenorina at a ballroom social in Oakland, CA. From there he moved to Santa Clara, CA where he raised his 4 children. He dedicated 60 years of marriage to the ONE woman he truly loved. Since they met, he has never left her side. He was blessed to have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. Not only to celebrate, but to have renewed his wedding vows, where he had said in front of a priest and loving family, "if I could do it all over again, I would". He was a simple, sweet loving man that will never be forgotten. He was a dedicated practicing Catholic man, who believed in the church. He believed, "Life is as simple and happy as you make it". He retired from NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, CA. After retirement, he had the opportunity to enjoy watching his 11 grandchildren grow. His grandchildren range from the eldest age of 27
to the youngest of 5 years old. He would do anything for his grandchildren. He loved them very much and enjoyed each and every one of their unique personalities. His selflessness, kind hearted and great sense of humor were just some of his MANY qualities that brighten anyone's days. To conclude, a letter from his wife that she put into his casket; "Carlos, I wrote your name on a piece of paper but the wind blew it away. I engraved your name on a beach park bench but the waves washed it away. I 've engraved your name on my heart where it will stay and stay". Rosary and Services to be held on June 2, 2014 at 10am at St. Lawrence the Martyer in Santa Clara, CA. Burial Services being held at the San Joaquin Valley Veterans Cemetery at 12pm on June 3rd. We will remember and celebrate the life of the greatest man we've had the opportunity to know and love.
