Oct. 31, 1935 - Jan. 4, 2014
Resident of San Mateo
Chuck Pierce peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014. He was an amazing man with charismatic personality, vivacious spirit and unending generosity.
Chuck was born in San Francisco, graduated from Washington HS in 1953 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force which took him across the country. Later, he attended the University of Hawaii and graduated SF State University where he earned a Master's Degree followed by a full and meaningful career in education. As both a teacher and school administrator, he touched the lives of children, parents, faculty and the community at large. He was incredibly well thought of and respected. Not only did he capably run several elementary schools, but he is equally remembered for his personal touch. Always remembered as the principal who made daily pots of homemade soup for children and faculty or the man who arranged to have the U.S. Coast Guard land a helicopter on the children's playground, he left everlasting memories.
His other lifelong joy was salmon fishing and boating trips on the Mustang. Certified as a U.S. Coast Guard Captain with a commercial fishing license, he was actively involved in the SF Marina and Golden Gate Yacht Club where he proudly served as Commodore.
Chuck is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Pierce. He is survived by his devoted daughters Susan McKay (Brent) of Redwood City and Jill Hudson (Sean) of San Mateo and adoring grandchildren Drew & Scott McKay and Sara & Emma Hudson.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 25 (10-1) at his home.
He will be missed by so many, Fish On!
