Clifford D. Stock Obituary
Clifford D. Stock
March 9, 1919-January 3, 2014
Resident of Palo Alto
Our family mourns the passing of Clifford D. Stock who exemplified all the characteristics and was a part of "The Greatest Generation". "Hang Tough", and "Stand Tall" were so often used that even non-family members will remember his words to live by. He was the "storybook" loving and caring husband of Lorraine for 71 years. They resided in Palo Alto neighborhood in the same house for 55 years where they raised their 4 daughters. He grew up in Fish Haven Idaho where his family built the Fish Haven Resort on the Bear Lake shore. In May of 1942 he graduated from Utah State with a degree in Engineering, married Lorraine and entered into the Army with a commission in the Corp of Engineering. He was part of the 340th Engineering Regiment that continued to have many reunions. Clifford enjoyed being a member of the Palo Alto Elks Lodge where he enjoyed swimming and dancing. Lorraine and Clifford were often found dancing in their kitchen and were active leaders in the Starlighters Dance Group. He worked for the Government as an Engineer and Manager at Lockheed and Westinghouse for 20 plus years. He made an enduring impact on the management of the programs as a "charter" member of the SSPO team. After retirement he worked for Taylor Properties keeping up his real estate license till he was in his 80's.
Clifford was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends of Clifford and his family are invited to attend his memorial which will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints at 3865 Middlefield Rd. in Palo Alto on Saturday 1/11/14 at 2 PM. He is survived by his wife Lorraine and their four daughters and their husbands: Crystal and Richard Dunn, Taunita and Doug Reynolds, Kathryn and Tony Moreno, and Dresden and Chris Loafman. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren: Charmaine, Sabrina, and Andrew Madsen, Kristen Beck, Robyn, Camille, Austin, Richard and James Dunn, Tara, Tatum and Drew Krekorian, Megan and Emma Joe Taylor, and Charmaine and Sophia Moreno.
