Beloved husband of Mary-Alice for 55 years, Born in Brooklyn, New York to Irish immigrants, David and Hannah. Dear brother to Marie and husband, Leon Vaillancourt. Loving Father to Siobhan, Tara, Dave, Shelagh and Bonnie. Dear father-in-law to Glenn Miles and Rick Ohren. Loving Grandfather to Anders, Jared, Dillon, Zoe, Hannah and Sarah. Proud Uncle to his nephews and nieces, and grand nephews and nieces. Moving with his family to Detroit at age eleven, he soon enrolled in Henry Ford Trade School, but inspired by a medical missionary's sermon at church, he decided instead to become a physician. Supported by his family and the skills he acquired at the Trade School, he completed medical school, residencies in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, served in the U.S. Navy, and completed further studies in Endocrinology. He practiced medicine in the San Francisco bay area until retirement. He loved people and was loved by all who knew him.
Services honoring David's life will be held at 11a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1685 Cordilleras, Redwood City, CA 94062.
