David Fishback
October 17, 1960 - July 3, 2013
Resident of San Jose
David Lee Fishback passed away on Wednesday, July 3rd, after a tragic accident while doing something he loved - riding a motorcycle. He touched many lives with his humor, generosity and loving spirit; he will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Dave was born in San Francisco, CA, to Joann and Edward Fishback. He was raised in Cupertino and graduated from Lynbrook High School in San Jose. He started his law enforcement career as a deputy with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. After 5 years, he transferred to the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department, where he served 22 years. While working in Los Gatos, Dave also served on the SWAT team, was a motor officer and a range master, did a special assignment with the county narcotics task force, and was on both the crime scene and major traffic investigations teams. In 2011, at the age of 50, Dave retired as a sergeant, but continued with the department as a reserve police officer. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and making memories with friends and family. Dave had the innate ability to make everyone he knew feel special; he was a great friend and was truly one of a kind.
Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Joann Fishback. He is survived by his father, Ed Fishback, stepmother Bobbie Fishback, loving daughters Alexandria and Samantha Fishback, and granddaughter Brooklyn Jackson. He is also survived by his siblings, Brian Fishback and Sharon Ecker-Haleva, and siblings by marriage Susan Gillis, Carrie Gillis Kelly and Scott Gillis.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Dave's life at a memorial service on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Los Gatos United Methodist Church, 111 Church Street in Los Gatos.
