David Steven Bailey|
December 8, 1948 - April 20, 2014
Resident of Sunnyvale
David passed away peacefully at home with dignity on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the age of 65 surrounded by his loving family after a brave and relentless battle with stage 4 metastatic renal cancer. He touched many lives with his courage, strength and determination.
Dave was born in Rhode Island and lived in many different states growing up. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner's Mate Technician Class A, before meeting Karen and settling down in the Bay Area. His career as a Quality Manager, in addition to other roles, was a big part of his life, and he served as a mentor to so many people. Plain and simple, he was a family man that loved to work outside in the yard, and enjoyed watching the SF Giants, SF 49'ers and Nascar. Our greatest gift was our recent family trip to Kauai which we will all treasure for the rest of our lives.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Karen; devoted daughters and sons, Melissa Steinbach (Mike) of Bend, OR, Michael Bailey of Sunnyvale, CA, Danielle Phelps (Matthew) of Gilroy, CA and Christopher Bailey (Tonya) of Albuquerque, NM; soon to be grandchild Baby Boy Steinbach; brother, Bob Bailey of Mocksville, NC (Diana); brother-in-law and niece, Tom and Janelle Eaton of Redwood City, CA; as well as many furry grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Rev. Carl and Louise Bailey.
Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00A.M. at LIMA & CAMPAGNA SUNNYVALE MORTUARY, 1315 Hollenbeck Ave, Sunnyvale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Special Olympics Northern California, Dream Foundation or Pathways Hospice.
