Dorothy Ann Borbidge
Resident of Millbrae
Lt. (Ret.) Dorothy Ann Borbidge, resident of South San Francisco, and long time resident of Millbrae, CA passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7, 2013. She was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1928. She graduated from the University of Florida where she majored in English and excelled in swimming. She then joined the US Navy and served for 13 years; her last duty station was the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey. Dorothy worked for the Social Security Administration in San Francisco, and later for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Western Division in San Bruno, CA. She served her community in retirement through volunteer work with hospice and senior services. Dorothy's love of reading led her to Project Read where she taught other adults the wonders of reading. She enjoyed the arts, theater and lectures. She is survived by her son Steven Bird and brothers, Fr. David Borbidge and Lt. (Ret.) Robert Borbidge. She was preceded in death by her parents BG (Ret.) John J. and Anna L. Borbidge and brothers, Lt. Jack Borbidge and LCDR (Ret.) George Borbidge.
Friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, September 14th, at 4 PM with prayers to follow at the Chapel of the Highlands, 194 Millwood Dr., Millbrae, CA 94030.
The family is grateful for the kind people at Damenik's Home who cared for Dorothy for the past four years, and to the Pathways Hospice nurses. In lieu of flowers, donations to Project Read in South San Francisco are requested.
