Feb. 16, 1929 - Jan. 20, 2013
Resident of San Francisco
Everett Leo Price passed away peacefully at his home in San Francisco, California with his wife Alice Laura and two sons Gregory and Stephen on January 20, 2013 at the age of 83. Everett was born in San Fernando, California to Eleanor and Benjamin Price. He had a sister, Helen Sullivan, who predeceased him.
Everett attended San Jose State University. At the university, he met his first wife, Elizabeth Anne Price of San Jose. They married in 1949 and had two sons: Gregory and Stephen. Everett soon became a stockbroker in San Jose at Sutro and Company and then worked for a number of other brokerage firms, before starting his own firm, the San Francisco Investment Company. Everett enjoyed a long and illustrious career in financial services and planning; working up until his time of death. Throughout his years in the business, his client's interests were paramount. He had a loyal clientele and a loyal staff, some of whom had been with him for over 30 years. He was a man of unwavering integrity and everyone's well being was of utmost importance to him.
Everett was an elegant man in the way he dressed and in the manner he treated people. He loved classic cars, especially restoring and showing his prized 1935 Packard Roadster. He owned many vintage cars during his life, but the Packard was his favorite. He was an enthusiastic member of the Packard International Motor Car Club.
Everett very much enjoyed golf and was a long-time member of the Presidio Golf Club in San Francisco. The twilight golf program at the Presidio was a favorite weekly event for Everett and his son Gregory. Everett played golf until the end.
Everett was an avid member of many organizations, which he enjoyed including Rotary Club, Elks Lodge #3, Hibernian-Newman Club, Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, the Classic Car Club of America, San Jose State University Alumni Association, and the San Francisco Bond Club. Friends fondly remember the speech he gave to the Bond Club last December. Everett and Alice worked together in the Fort Mason Community Garden and the lemon tree he planted there has and will continue to bear fruit.
Everett is survived by his beloved wife of 28-years, Alice Laura Price of San Francisco, and his two sons, Gregory R. Price of El Cerrito, California, and Stephen M. Price of Loomis, California. Everett is also survived by his step-son Lawson Steele of England. Everett leaves two grandchildren, Kayla and Gregory, Jr. His family and friends remember the elegance, respect, compassion, and integrity with which he lived his life.
In addition to his devotion and kindness to his friends and family, Everett had a lifelong love for animals and donated generously to the SFSPCA. Accordingly, in lieu of flowers, Everett's family requests that donations be made to Everett's favorite charity, the San Francisco Humane Society.
A memorial is planned for friends and family at the Presidio Golf Club, 8 Presidio Terrace, Saturday, February 16 from 2 to 4 pm.
