George Bernal Obituary
George Rodney Bernal Resident of Sunnyvale Died unexpectedly on June 4, 2014. A lifelong resident of Sunnyvale. He was the son of the late Manuel and Mary Bernal. Predeceased by a sister Rosemary Dinardo and nephew Kenneth Van Groningen. He is survived by sister Catherine Van Groningen and brother John (Jesse) Bernal and Frank Edward Bernal. Also surviving are nieces Karen (Clark McPherson) Van Groningen and Jennifer (Steve) Grist, great nephews Brett McPherson and Aiden Grist and great niece Sydney Grist. George proudly served in the Navy on the USS Hancock during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Hiker, Bicyclist and lover of nature, especially Yosemite. For those who knew George, he was a quiet man but was always willing to help when asked. He lived his last years in pain but never complained. He will be sorely missed by his family. Friends are invited to calling hours from 6 until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11 at the Sunnyvale Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries, 174 N. Sunnyvale.
