Lyle William Hunt Jr. Obituary
Lyle William Hunt Jr.
Nov. 18, 1929 - Dec. 14, 2013
Resident of Penn Valley, CA
Lyle passed away peacefully after battling GBM brain cancer just 8 months after his wife Bee passed away from breast cancer; they were married for 60 years. Lyle was born and raised in Alameda, CA then graduated from San Jose State with a degree in Police Science.
After serving in the Korean War, Lyle enjoyed a 30-year career with the San Jose Police Department retiring as a Captain in 1986. He worked in every division from traffic to homicide. Lyle was the first National AAU Judo Champion in 1953 and then went on to represent the USA in the International Judo Tournament in Paris. It was not usual to find him at the Central YMCA playing handball. He was an avid athlete playing tennis, handball and racquetball; he has numerous medals from years of participating in the Police Olympics. Lyle was active in many organizations including the SJ Peace Officers, SJSU Alumni, Chi Phi Sigma Fraternity and the Scottish Rite Masons to name a few. Lyle and Bee moved to Lake Wildwood in Penn Valley, CA after retiring where they lived on the lake, which became a gathering place for family and friends. Lyle and Bee enjoyed watching all their grandchildren participate in their different sports and activities.
Lyle is survived by his children, Steve (Allison), Lynn Parker (Paul) and Becky Anderson (Fred) and grandchildren; Chris Parker, Lauren Parker, Hilary Hunt, Austin Hunt, Stephanie Anderson and Casey Anderson. He left a big imprint on those he touched.
A Celebration of Life for both will be held at a later date this summer.
