Manuel Burgos Obituary
Manuel Garcia 'Burgie' Burgos Resident of Sunnyvale Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014 our beloved Burgie passed away at home with loved ones by his side. He was 91. Born Jan. 27, 1923 in Santa Clara, CA to Juan and Antonia Burgos, the second of five children. Called to duty in 1942 he served in the European Theater in WWII driving tanks for the Army, for which he received a Purple Heart. This filled the family with pride. A member of the Great Generation - those selfless men and women whose struggles paved the way for future generations. When Burgie returned from the war he married the love of his life Verna Esteban a beauty inside and out. They were married for 60 years. He worked for Westinghouse where he retired from. Burgie was always the life of the party, a wonderful dancer and a true character. He was truly a Jack of all Trades. If it was something that needed to be built, fixed or grown he was the man. An avid hunter and fisherman who always loved camping with the family. We will always remember his stories and his sage advice on life. Burgie will be truly missed by us all and we will keep him in our hearts forever. Preceded in death by his loving wife Verna and his sister Mary. Survived by his sisters Jenny and Antoinette (Ann) (John) brother Vince (Rosie). His three children John (Cindy) Marty and daughter Cindy (Stan), his grandchildren Aaron, Matthew, Joshua, Corrie, Rose, Johnny, Laura and Anita. One great-grandchild Charlie and numerous nieces and nephews. As per his request, no services will be held. Rest in Peace Dear Papa
