Nov 7, 1928 - July 17, 2014
Nacia Zachary Martin, 85, passed away on July 17, 2014, at her home in Brookings, Oregon.
She was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and was the only child of John and Margaret Zacharias.
When Nacia was a young child, her family moved from Little Rock to Birmingham, Alabama. Some years later, she moved to Texas and eventually settled in San Jose, California.
In 1980 while in San Jose, she began working for the Ordnance Division of the FMC Corporation in a secretarial position. Over the next ten years at FMC, she worked with a variety of groups including the Milpitas Electronics Production Facility, the Electrical Engineering Department, and FMC's Finance Department.
In the mid-1980s, Nacia met her neighbor, Tom Martin, a retired engineer and high school teacher. In 1991, she retired from FMC, married Tom, and the couple began their retirement together in Grants Pass, Oregon.
In 1993 they moved to Brookings, Oregon, a place that they both really enjoyed. They loved it so much that they built their retirement home there close to the coast. Nacia always loved home decorating and was able to fully use those talents decorating their new home.
Over the years, Nacia touched many lives with her outgoing and positive personality. She made friends easily and managed to stay in touch for years with most of the many, many friends she made throughout her life.
Nacia was preceded in death by her husband Tom, and is survived by son Charles of Lake Mary, Florida.
Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at the family plot in Birmingham, Alabama.
