Resident of San Jose
Odette Genevieve Morrow, Grande Dame of the hotel industry, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She gradutated into Heaven on September 17th, 2013.
Odette met her husband, Marine MGYSGT Sam Morrow when he was stationed at the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran. They were married on February 12, 1956.
Her hotel career took her everywhere Sam was stationed. She was Director of Sales and Marketing for the Holiday Inn chain for 30 years. She joined 14 organizations, served on many boards and was President of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association Northern California chapter in 1983, 1989 and 2002.
She was the recipient of over 200 awards. For many years she served on the Board of Directors for the San Jose State University Hospitality Management Program where she was the recipient of the Spartan Hospitality Industry Award.
Odette became a member of the Rotary Club of San Jose, then joined the Rotary Club of Los Gatos.
But her greatest love was her dedication to the Lay Chaplaincy program in her church. She trained volunteers to go and minister in convalescent homes and hospitals. Her love for Jesus Christ was evident in her ability to love, laugh and look at life in such a joyful way. When someone would ask her "How are you?", she would reply "Too blessed to be stressed and I am too annointed to be dissapointed".
She leaves her 5 children, Monique, Denise, Andre, Michelle and Sam Jr. 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services to be held Monday September 23rd at 11am at Cathedral of Faith located at 2315 Canoas Garden, San Jose, Ca. 95125. Casual attire preferred.
A scholarship will be set up in Odette's name at San Jose State University. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to: SJSU Odette Morrow Memorial Scholarship
