Royce Lorraine Peterson, 68, passed peacefully after an extended battle with cancer, October 18, 2013. She was a dedicated mother, caring sister, respected educator, and constant friend. A Stanford alum, she taught Latin and English at Prospect High School in Saratoga for 38 years. She was also active in the Campbell High School Teachers Association serving as both president and bargaining chair. When she retired from Prospect, as the longest-serving of the original faculty members, she was elected to the Campbell Union High School District school board. Royce was preceded by husband, Luther Thaddeus (Pete) Peterson III, who passed away in 1984. She is survived by sons, Michael and Patrick, brother, John Salisbury, her Siberian Husky, Darcy, and her parrot, Jimmy.
Please join her family and friends at a memorial service on Saturday, November 9, at the Prospect High School Performing Arts Center at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Bay Area Siberian Husky Rescue.
