Bill King, a loving husband, father, uncle, and grandpa passed away Wednesday from Leukemia. Bill was born in Watsonville, CA and attended Notre Dame Middle School. He then attended Palma High School in Salinas and then went on to Saint Mary's College in Moraga. He served a three year term of service in the United States Navy where he graduated from the U.S. Naval Training Center in San Diego as a Radioman First Class. He was stationed in Stockton, CA and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for Joseph George Liquor Distributors in Salinas and Reno Sardellas's Pack Station stables. He had fond memories of caring for the horses. He was hired with IBM in 1966 and worked as an Analyzer in Production Control. He retired after 27 years in 1993. In his spare time, he enjoyed his music, reading and camping/fishing with his wife and two daughters. His favorite place is Strawberry River near Pinecrest.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 am, Wednesday, January 29 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church, 794 Calero Avenue, San Jose, CA. Father Christopher Bennett will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross Association or the Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation.
His wife Gwenlyn, of 47 years, daughters Denise and Darlene; sons-in-law Greg Raub and Chris Baer; numerous nieces and nephews, and two loving grandsons Kimo and Kainoa survive him. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents Reginald and Margaret and his brother Robert.
