Barbara Jean Caldwell Hamilton Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Barbara Jean Caldwell Hamilton passed away peacefully on June 21, 2014 at her daughters home in Sandy, Utah. She was surrounded by loving family. She was born September 5, 1932 in Framingham, MA to Waldon S. and Marguerite T. (Gebelein) Caldwell. She graduated from Framingham High School in 1950 and Katherine Gibbs School in 1952. She worked as a secretary for General Motors, Trust Company, and the Diploma Nurses Association as well as volunteering as secretary for the Twin Ridge Mountaineers Snowmobile Club in New Hampshire. In 1952 she married Charles M. Patton and later divorced. In 1965 she married Richard T. Hamilton and her family of five children blossomed to ten. She loved sewing, knitting, handcrafts, reading, animals, flowers, camping, and snowmobiling. All of these interests were trumped by her passion for sweets. Her most precious memories included spending time with family and friends at home in Ashland and at her vacation home in Goshen, New Hampshire. Mom was our rock and the constant in our lives. She endured years of declining health with dignity, grit, and a positive attitude. We will miss her wacky sense of humor and easy smile. Her nature was gentle, gracious, and kind and she showered everyone she knew with unconditional love. Everyone was welcome in her home. She is survived by her children, Stephen (Wendy) Patton, Uxbridge, MA; Debra Davenport, West Paris, ME; Susan (Mark) Ross, Sandy, UT; Diana (Tom) Rousseau, Fitchburg, MA; Scott (Nancy) Patton, Stow, MA; Sally Patton (Ben) Willey, Leesburg, VA; Dale Hamilton, Sudbury, MA; Sandra (David) Owen, Ashland, MA; 14 grandchildren; Stephen Patton, Jr, Mellisa Lacasse, Roy Ames, Christian Ross, Katie Converse, Kelly Nelson, Matthew Ross, Marysa Rousseau, Becky Rousseau, Meg Halcovage, Michael Halcovage, Alicia Hamilton, Elizabeth Owen, Tim Owen; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Derry (Paul) DeCenzo, Centerville, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children, Richard T. Hamilton, Jr. and Dawn M. Hamilton, as well as grandson, Jesse Ames. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St, Ashland, MA. Visiting hours will be held at 10:00 AM prior to the service.
