Raymond E. Diedrich, 78, of Maynard, died Sun. June 30th, 2013 at the Life Care Center of Acton. He was the beloved husband of Elvira (Greeno) Diedrich. Born and raised in Ft. Wayne, IN, he was the son of the late Edward and Rose (Kennedy) Diedrich. Mr. Diedrich served honorably in both the US Navy and the US Army after the Korean War. He met his future wife, Elvira, while stationed at Ft. Devens, and the couple married Aug. 7, 1960. They lived in North Carolina for a time before settling in Maynard in 1961, where they raised their son, David. A retired machinist, Mr. Diedrich was employed by W.H. Nichols Co. of Waltham and later North Carolina. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, VFW Post #1812, and the American Legion Post #235. In earlier years Mr. Diedrich enjoyed reading mysteries, and following his retirement enjoyed playing solitaire, word puzzles and watching favorite TV programs. He always enjoyed working on projects, including mobiles handcrafted of walnut. He is survived by his wife, Elvira; their son, David Diedrich, his wife Robin, and their children Casey, Shayna and Keith, all of Hudson; 3 sisters, Mary Pegg of Newport Beach, CA, Frances Debarke and Alma Stradling, and a brother, Edward Diedrich, all of Roscommon, MI; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Visiting hours are Mon. July 8th from 5:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral service will be held Tues. July 9th at 10:00am at the funeral home, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery, Great Rd (Rte 117) Maynard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
