Achille E. Diotalevi, 87, of Milford, died peacefully Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was born in Milford, the son of the late Antonio and Louisa (Lucharelli) Diotalevi, who came to the US from Italy in the early 1900s. Mr. Diotalevi was a WWII veteran, serving with distinction and receiving the Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. After working at the Draper Corporation in Hopedale, he served the Town of Milford as a firefighter for over thirty years, retiring in 1989. Mr. Diotalevi enthusiastically enjoyed his Monday night card games and rooting for Boston sports teams. He was a lifelong member of the Marchegiano Club, which his father founded, and a member of the Italian-American Veterans of Milford. His wife of 50 years, Shirley (DeForest) Diotalevi, passed away in April, 2000. Achille was preceded in death by four siblings: Romolo, Raymond, Josephine, and Iola. He is survived by two sons, David, an author & Nuclear Engineer, and Milford Firefighter, Gordon & his wife, Pam, both of Milford; a beloved granddaughter, Kristin; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from the James E. Kellett & Son Funeral Home, 21 West Street, Milford, MA followed by a mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Lower Chapel, East Main St., Milford, MA.
