Stephen R. Allaire, Sr., of Blackstone died peacefully in his home on April 7th at the age of 94 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 10th, 1919, the son of Darius Allaire and Emma (Lavallee) Allaire. He was one of nine children. He was a lifelong resident of Blackstone. Steve was a World War II Veteran having served with the 166th Combat Engineering Battalion as part of the US 3rd Army under General George Patton. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. In 1953 he founded Bellingham Electric, a company from which he retired in 1982. His passion was working in his yard and on the Farm, the home now owned by his granddaughter where he grew up and raised his family. He was an avid golfer and former member of the Whitinsville Country Club. He was married to Anna M. (Sarrasin) Allaire for 70 years. He is survived by his wife Anna, and four of their children, his daughter Geraldine (Allaire) Baszner of Blackstone, MA, his son Robert Allaire and his wife Lise Begin of Woonsocket, RI, his son Lucien Allaire of Dorchester, MA, his son Richard Allaire and his wife Mary Kay (Lietzau) Allaire of Norton, MA and his daughter in law Linda (Faneuf) Allaire of Blackstone, MA. His oldest son Stephen R. Allaire Jr. of Blackstone, MA passed away in December of 2013. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Ann Marie Allaire and her fianc, Ken Allard of Blackstone, MA, Kevin Allaire and his wife Debbie (Nardella) Allaire of Mattapoisett, MA, Jeffrey Allaire of Blackstone, MA, and Christopher Allaire of Webster, MA, as well as his great grandchildren, Samantha and Casey Allaire of Mattapoisett, MA and Kierstyn and Sarah Ebbeling of Blackstone, MA. He is also survived by several of his siblings, Alice (Allaire) MacDougall of Blackstone, MA, Lucille Allaire of Woonsocket, RI, Vivian (Allaire) Unger of Mansfield, MA and Charles M. Allaire of Mendon, MA. His funeral will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Pauls Church, 48 St. Paul St., Blackstone, MA. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7PM.
