Alvin Burchett, 73, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his home at Hylond Health Care Center in Modesto,  CA.  He was born March 16, 1940 in Casa Grande, AZ and was raised in Modesto.  He served in the United States Navy from 1959 - 1962, and lived in Chicago and Pleasanton before returning to Modesto where he has lived for the last 35 years.  Al worked as a plant manager and as a contractor & construction foreman for new home builders.  He loved to paint landscapes, play golf, build furniture and enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends.
Al is preceded in death by his wife, June Burchett of Modesto, his sister, Kay Lowe of Modesto, and his parents, James Theodore Burchett and Geneva Jewel Lee, both of Modesto.
He is survived by his brother, William "Buck" Burchett of Riverbank, his children, Brian Burchett of Atwater, Lisa Holligan of Abernathy, TX, Stephanie O'Brien of Livermore, Suzanne Calvin-Cloward of Danville, and Jonathan Burchett of Pleasanton.  Also survived by his step-children, JD Southern of Modesto, Terry Southern of Oak Harbor, WA, Debbie Deathridge of Modesto, Carrie Burnell of Tracy, Mary Davis of Modesto, and Dawn King of Modesto, 36 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of his niece, Donita Lowe Zoerb on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 1:00pm; 2500 Van Derk Circle, Modesto, CA  95356.
