William Charles Barnes
July 14, 1941 - March 13, 2014
William Barnes, know to most of us as "Bill" was born to Walter "Red" Barnes and Katie Barnes in Bridgeport CT. Bill was raised in Santa Rosa, CA, where he graduated an accomplished student athlete. Bill was an E5 Sargent in the U. S. Army and a renowned member  of the 101st Airborne  Div. Bill served in the National Guard where he was active during the 1965 Watts Riots. In May 1965 Bill married Susie Buergler and relocated to the Bay area where be became involved with various Semi-Pro and Triple A ball clubs serving as a hitting coach. From 1975-1986 Bill coached Milpitas Little League and Milpitas High Varsity baseball. Bill a car enthusiast was a show promoter, a life time member of the N.S.R.A. and president of C.A.R.S car club. Between 1986-2012 Bill held many positions with local girls fastpitch organization which included the Strikkers, Lady Falcons, Class Act and Sister Act. Bill coached Varsity softball for Riverbank high from 2000-2004 and in 2013 Bill retired from coaching with his final team the Rattlers. Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Susie Barnes, his two children Brian Barnes of Riverbank, and Lynette Heinrichs of Turlock, his grandchildren Brian and Paige Barnes, Katilynn and Ashlynn Heinrichs, his great granddaughters Kailani and Adalina Barnes, his brother Walter Barnes and sister Peggy Kendricks. Please join the family in celebration of Bill's life on March 31, 2014 at Rainbow Fields, Modesto, CA at 10am.
