Edward T. Jacobs
July 18, 1937 - July 24, 2012
Edward Thomas Jacobs, 75, entered into rest on July 24, 2012 in Manteca. He was born to the late Edwin and Madeline Jacobs in San Francisco, California. Edward leaves behind his children; daughter Denise Renee Jacobs of Modesto and son Mark Edward Jacobs with wife Malina of Modesto. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren; Henry Coke, Katelyn Wright, Emma Wright, Mason Jacobs and Morgan Jacobs. Edward has one surviving sister, Elaine Simpson of Elk Grove. Edward, also known as "The Germ" to his friends and fellow firefighters was a 2nd generation firefighter for the City of Oakland. He graduated class of 1955 from St. Elizabeth High School before going on to accomplish his dream of becoming a firefighter. Edward served Oakland for 31 faithful years upon his retirement in 1989. In his younger years he had a multitude of jobs which included; US Naval reserves, vet office, plant nursery and at a local car garage. He was a man of his word, hard working and loyal. His sense of humor was like no other, he would speak his mind, never reserving his opinion. Through the years he enjoyed restoring old cars, going out to watch air races, loved camping and the great outdoors. Until his last days he made family his priority. He enjoyed his grandbabies to the fullest and cherished every moment spent. He will be remembered for his loyalty to his family, the fire department and his true friendships he shared with many on and off the job. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
